Open Question: Need Advise - moving 3 adult cats 3300 miles in Dec ?

Do to the economy here in Portland Oregon, I am having to move myself and my 3 cats (approx 7 years old) around 3,300 miles to Bloomington, Indiana. Since my male gets a little aggressive sometimes, I will need to keep them in 3 separate carriers. How do I handle kitty litter breaks as well as food and water, do I just keep them in the car all the time, until we stop in hotel/motel to sleep and let them out of the cages then? What about prescription tranquilizers from the vet, when I moved them about 500 miles 5 years ago, I really couldn't tell whether they were better or worse. I'm assuming that I shouldn't let them out of their carriers to roam around in the car on a rotating basis in case they get under the pedals or curl around our necks or even worse (for the male...he's really a cutie until he's scared) have our face scratched up. I would appreciate any information from anyone who has ever had similar information. Also, they moved from warm, southern Oregon to cold, northern Oregon. Is the switch to really cold weather in Indiana going to be hard on them? Should I get extra blankets? We don't want to drive the small car and trailer through the snow, ice and montain passes, and I can't afford to fly the cats. Have you ever heard of any good deals? My male is 14 lbs, 1 females is about 12 lbs, and the smallest is about 8 lbs.... Read More »
